Both of the instruments in my previous video (tweed deluxe and 63 330) sold immediately (to the same guy actually)…

Special thanks to Antonio at the Green Hills Apple Store Genius Bar for not completely ruining my afternoon today ….super sweet dude that is REALLY FUCKING GOOD at his job

After a quick google I found the book…it was actually called “The New Music”…

Wow, what a distant memory…but it had a big effect on me as a kid

and TOTALLY unrelated, I somehow happened upon this old video last night , a rare rehearsal version of Nathaniel Rateliff singing an old Leon Russell tune beautifully…this was for some tribute concert we did years ago.

This version is way cooler than the “actual” version that ended up on the YouTube ..I love his voice on this

Here’s some long form bench content for the TRUE Homeskoolers out there…this is basically the Homeskoolin’ equivalent of reading “War And Peace”…
Maybe save this one for the next time you get a cold and you’ve got a few days to just lay around on the couch and watch 10 movies in a row

What you’ll see and hear if you DO stick around ….

You’ll see Larry changing out the original bridge on a lovely old 58 LP Junior, and you’ll get to hear that guitar play TRULY in tune for the first time in its life…after 68 years of faithful rock and roll service on this glorious planet

and… you’ll take an extensive tour through 3 very strident lovely sounding original pickups on a 1957 Stratocaster …and you’ll get to hear them played right next to the original pickups on a 65 LPB Stratocaster through the same amp

Hope you enjoy friends

Notes
Tube amps are on their way out , haven’t you heard??

Well, not in this town…

Uncle Larry thought you guys might enjoy a quick gander at this lovely old 1966 Fender Vibrolux that he purchased recently from the Sutton family.

Bryan’s dad Jerry bought this amp AND the factory black 1959 Gibson ES-345 that you always see Keith Urban rocking out on, for 150.00 back in about 1968, in Asheville NC. (No I’m not kidding)

I owned that ES-345 for a while, I had it TOTALLY restored…the thing was a BASKET CASE when I first got it….literally in pieces.

Greg Voros did all the extensive restoration work on it….when it was done it turned out AMAZING.

Even though I loved it , I could tell it wasn’t MY guitar…I sold it to Keith and it has literally been his personal favorite guitar for about 10 years now .

Old guitars are cool….you’re cool

Notes
Uncle Larry takes a stroll on a sweet old transition logo Fender …through an old Fender amp from the same year

I think of it as “transitional tone” that was available in any real music store in America in 1965, just as Leo was being asked to step down and take a 10 year break from building anything with the no compete clause that the CBS suits so wisely put in the contract when they bought the second best guitar company in American history

and...here is the most interesting interview in country music history
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M0uSj6eA714

and...this guy gets it
https://www.youtube.com/shorts/un1i4m6K_X4

if you guys wanna donate to the cause of keeping country music country, please consider throwing something in the old tip jar...to potentially pay for e-bike related ER trips and black vulture removal
