Homeskoolin’ Bonus…”Studio Rat”
Chapters00:00 - Playing on a session
Notes
At various points in my life i have actually considered just having a pair of headphones surgically attached to my head…but alas i never go through with it.
There was a funny little chat on the session today about which Nashville studio guys are known for having the loudest headphones historically…there are a couple guys who’s names ALWAYS gets mentioned in that conversation.
I ain’t gonna lie, I like my phones pretty bangin’, but i have been around some cats who have their phones so fucking loud you can’t even get near them, let alone put them over your ears.
It’s truly a wonder that i am not totally deaf after basically having headphones on for eight hours a day for about 25 years.
The tune i was playing in this clip is just a little “sea shanty” feel in D….6/8 time signature. That’s my old ‘38 Bone I’m floggin’ on.
Today was a double at Sound Emporium A for a guy named Corey Smith, i think he’s from Georgia but he is part of the Texas country scene…
The engineer was Chad Carlson
Producer was Erik Dylan
Me and Rob Mcnelley on guitars
“The Craig” Young on bass
Nir Z on drums
Jenee Fleenor on fiddle
Andy Sheridan on keys

So, name the author of this famous quote: “did you ever notice that all Larry’s 'dear' friends are selling something?”

Hello class!!! Its your weird old uncle….tonites lesson teaches you how to play "Space Wagon" from the Trip The Witch record that came out recently. This track is probably my personal fave on the album, although its a bit of a wall flower at first glance.
Today was day one of a four day Morgan Wallen record at Blackbird studios in Nashville….its nice to be able to camp out for a few days and get weird…bring out the weird toys.
I’m actually totally serious about eventually making the move to all combo amps….the big head/cabinet scenario has served me well for many years, but I always like to keep evolving and trying new things.
Thanks so much for the kind words about the TTW album, Dean and I really appreciate it.

Homeskoolin’ Session Update Part 1 “Acoustic Fever”
Chapters00:00 - Acoustic track playing
Notes
Monday August 9th 2021…Soultrain Studios in Berry Hill.
Working on a project with an extremely talented Aussie fella named Wes Dean.
Wes sang, played some great acoustic and blew me away with some absolutely wicked Bob Dylan/Neil Young style harmonica playing….(which is one thing we are SORELY lacking here in the Nashville session scene in my opinion).
Corky Courtelyou producing and engineering.
Kyle Blunt Pro Tools operator.
I played electric and a bit of acoustic as you see here.
The legendary Freddie Eltringham on drums.
Adam Beard on an olive drab P bass.
Charlie Lowell on keys.
I know it sucks when you can’t hear the context of the track that I am playing along with, but unfortunately thats all I can give you guys without pissing off the artist I am working for.
The guitar I'm playing is a 1937 Gibson Advanced Jumbo that I just recently purchased from Gruhn Guitars. I had to sell about five guitars to even remotely afford it but thats just fine with me....the thing is truly not of this earth.

Hello class, just a brief exploratory look at baritone guitars….keep in mind, EVERY guitar sounds cool when you tune it down low enough. Props to John Scott from Bluesman Vintage guitars in Nashville. You may want to contact him if you like lightweight guitars…the Strat he had with him yesterday was literally the lightest Strat i have ever felt in my entire life…5 pounds tops.

Homeskoolin’ Session Update “Isolation Dot Com”
Chapters00:00 - Isolation cab fun
Notes
May 18, 2021.... I always wanted to make a website called “isolation.com” where you have live camera feeds with video and audio of isolated guitar cabinets in various studios all over nashvlle where all you can hear is the audio coming through the guitar cabinets but with no context of the music is was playing along to. It might be boring for some but real weirdos like me might find it fascinating. Here is one such example Todays session Rick Huckaby: vocals, acoustic guitar and songs Glenn Worf: bass Nir Z: drums Me: electric guitar Shannon Forrest: engineer
