I saw an ad for a Stratocaster on Reverb a couple days ago where a guy described the color as “seafood green”….oh man, that got me…

Anyway, here’s a 17 minute ramble from a guy who hasn’t been around many people any older than 9 years old in several days.

If anyone out there knows what issue of guitar player mag i got “writ up” in recently please tell me, cuz i can’t find the fucking thing....like who is on the cover?

totally unrelated, dig this crazy video....my son watched this and all he said afterwards was "knuckleheads..." kinda under his breath......hahaaaaa, wonder where he got that?

Homeskoolin’ Bonus Jam “Remember When Songs Had One Chord?”

Chapters
00:00 - Slow, soulful playing

Notes
Filmed late last night after getting home from a full day of sessioneering. Some of the harmonic possibilities available while just “pedaling” on a simple one chord motif. Also an example of the “claw”right hand technique we should all know, where you select only the strings you want to hear with your individual fingers.

Oh, and this is the best 70’s Les Paul i have personally ever seen…i usually do NOT go for any 70’s paul but this one has some magic. Picked it up in a trade recently…’71 custom, all there except for the hideous gold speed knobs that are currently on it..but don’t worry, there WILL be witch hats.

Homeskoolin’ Bonus “Theory's Ways”

Chapters
00:00 - Interesting passage

Notes
I originally titled this "Progathon" but a Homeskooler named Gb Seventy3 pointed out that "Theory's Ways" is clearly what it SHOULD be called...thanks for that my friend.

See, you guys think I’m a “prog freak”…but here’s the thing you don’t understand. The ONLY prog i was ever into was just these three bands…Genesis, Yes and Jethro Tull….the rest of it i honestly couldn’t care less about.

Of course I respect all the others (like ELP, King Crimson, Gentle Giant etc etc etc) but i was never into it.

Here’s a little thing i wrote a loooong time ago…I’ve had the A and B sections of this tune floating around in my head since i was in my early 30’s (i remember writing it in some hotel room on the road in the 90’s)…i just added the C section on today so i could tart it out for you guys.

It doesn’t look all that hard, but it’s EXTREMELY difficult to play….a lesson in itself of letting strings ring clearly whilst fretting other notes…. In fact if anyone out there can pull this off convincingly note for note i JUST MIGHT even send then a nice comfy Homeskoolin t shirt on the house haha

Thanks for watching and supporting the channel friends…oh and fuck off Axel

04:26 - Playing keyboards

Notes
Uncle Larry in a brand new green Homeskoolin’ t….damn this thing is soooo comfy…it’s like wearing a cloud.

A brief dissertation on the power of blowing up the input of an old Fender amp with the right stuff.

Totally unrelated, one of my biggest pet peeves in this world is this… when you see a thumbnail for a youtube video that has some kind of amazing photo….but then when you actually watch that video there is not a single thing in the video that even shows the photo they used in the thumbnail.

I fucking HATE that false advertising bullshit….there should be laws against this.

Homeskoolin’ Bonus “Lead A Normal Life

Chapters
00:00 - 1970's Yamaha CP-70B amazing playing

Notes
I have had a strange affinity for the legendary Yamaha CP-70B electric grand for my whole adult life….i have probably owned 10 or so different ones over the years, but this one is special because it belonged to my dear old friend Rick Reith who sadly moved on in January.

Fond memories of him and i carrying this beast into my newly purchased scantly furnished bachelor pad in the biting cold of winter.

Brent Arledge came over and tuned it for me yesterday…he literally is the ONLY guy who tunes every piano in every studio in nashville…we often talk about the pressure of it all, can you imagine tuning a piano for a guy like Gordon Mote?

there have been many great moments in rock history for the CP70....but here is the BEST moment
