Chapters
00:00 - Intro, Jeff Senn
01:08 - '54 Fender Stratocaster
01:46 - Fender Middle pickup
02:04 - Senn Middle pickup

Notes
As part of my lifelong effort to defend the honor and virtue of old guitars, I offer you this short comparison

Check out how much more fucking DANGEROUS the bridge pickup on this time capsule 150k early production 54 Strat is compared to the shit I normally use.

In a side by side comparison the senn sounds like a cheap model of the 54…

Granted, it’s all about context…what song are we playing etc etc…but you gotta admit, that shit sounds damn good.

Wish I could afford it friends

Homeskoolin’ Bonus “The Hippie Strum”

Chapters
00:00 - Vince Gill gig up-close footage strumming away

Notes
Here’s an inside look at what is REALLY happening in the rhythm guitar engine room on these Vince gigs at the Ryman.

My dear mate Jedd Hughes and I are trying to make some comfy beds for the boss man to do his thing over all night long

These are also both good examples of the “hippie strum” on a jangly electric that I have basically worked my entire life to try to perfect…

so much harder than it sounds to make the hippie strum feel legit with the exact amount of jangle and just the right shimmer tone.

I’ll let you know when I get there.

But still after all that, the first thing I did when I got home was crack open a beer and bust some riffs on this sweet D28 I bought today

Ain’t nothin like playing an acoustic guitar

we used to call them “exterminators” in the old days but we can’t use that word anymore because the insects thought it was “insensitive”

Anyway, I need a bug NINJA…not just some big corporate bullshit company that gives everyone the same bullshit corporate treatment…I want some PERSONALIZED service…a guy I can text or call directly …a guy who is PASSIONATE about killing bugs

If anyone out there has has a REALLY good experience with any exterminating company PLEASE let me know

Notes
Jimmie Lee Sloas and I are old war buddies…..we have been in the trenches together for decades…literally hundreds of sessions…everything from terrible demos to classic hit records…we have done it all together.

the love i have for this boy cannot be measured

Jimmie is “ordained” in Nashville…he is on a very very short list of people that you will NEVER EVER IN A MILLION YEARS hear anybody talk shit on…

and if you ever DID hear someone talk shit on him, you would IMMEDIATELY know that that person is a total asshole and cannot be trusted for anything

This is not my opinion friends…this is FACT

why??

because in the end when all the dust settles, they are the ONLY strings out there that matter

Even Scott Norwood feels sorry for the poor guy....

The truth is that Earnest Byner's career game that day was the only reason that his team was even in the position of potentially winning that game in the first place...but nobody remembers that part.

Notes
Well friends, the first thing old Larry did after he finally got all his beat up old gear into the new Homeskoolin World Headquarters studio was put together a new work bench that he ordered off the Amazon…

God…I am absolutely TERRIBLE at putting together unassembled furniture and shit like that….but i l finally got it.

It’s nice to have a place to work on my shitty old guitars again.
they are all a mess since my whole life has been completely uprooted….but that’s all about to change .

I just strung up and set up my trusty old 58 burst so I have at least one guitar that is feeling real good….cuz tomorrow it’s right back into the session fire…working with a very picky producer with high expectations.

The move is basically finally over praise the Sweet Baby Jesus….it’s time to start playing guitar again and thinking about music instead of where that coffee table is gonna go…

Thanks for hangin with me dear Homeskoolers
