00:40 - Music City tailpiece replacement
01:30 - Acoustic guitar repaired
02:55 - Duke Levine in the studio
04:07 - Back in the kitchen playing some nice tunes with the new SG
Notes
Three parts for ya in this vid....
1) a nice peek at the LOVELY guitar repair work of my dear old friend Nick Drushel at Glaser Instrument Repair in Nashville…615-298-1139
Nick is a gifted repair man…he uses his boundless creativity and skill to solve any problem I or anyone else can ever come up with.
He loves a challenge and ALWAYS finds a way to make it work in the end...mad respect bro.
2) a quick look at the session I’ve been in the last two days at Curb Studio in Nashville on a Wade Bowen record.
Been having an absolute blast playing with Duke Levine and the rest of that amazing band.
Check out the little call and answer thing between him and I on that intro.
i play the major 7 riff and then he does those bad ass slide down answers... the end result sounds like one big awesome guitar.
3) a little late night Buk jam for all you night owls out there…been fine tuning and tweakin' this old SG after getting it back today from a killer refret by Nick.
Those offset conversion posts he designed to be able to put an ABR-1 on your old Gibson using the original stud holes are gonna be a game changer for everyone when they come out.

15:22 - War on Drugs guitarist?
16:08 - Ring vs. Pinky slide
16:22 - Lesson: Tom Britt and keeping that slide straight
17:22 - Picks / Folkway Music
Notes
details about 1962 Stratocaster for sale...
i asked several of my vintage dealer buddies what the current fair market price is.
i got several responses ranging from 34k on the low side to 40k on the high side.
so...in true Uncle Larry fashion...i'll go with the low side.
34K plus actual day shipping costs (which will probably be 500.00) is the price people.
i just weighed it, it's waffling back and forth between 8.0 and 8.2 on my digital postal scale.
nice big chunky neck...beautifully refretted a while ago by Greg Voros.
also includes the original case candy fender book in case pocket that i'm told is worth over 500 all day long.
as you guys know i've owned hundreds of pre-cbs strats... this is by far the best sounding one i ever had, which is why i always kept it.

Homeskoolin’ Bonus “I Have A Mansion…”

00:00 - Getting ready for the show
Notes
The unmistakable sound of Joe Walsh…it has NOTHING to do with any gear. I have personally witnessed him play through literally 500 different amps and about 1000 different guitars from five feet away or closer…and it always sounds EXACTLY the same.
So keep that in mind regarding any upcoming gear purchases you may be considering.
Having an absolute ball out here in San Diego kids…fun and crazy rehearsal yesterday.
So great to see all these old friends and have a blast playing some killer old rock and roll songs.
This little video stars sweet Nathan East..my dear old pal Joe Vitale, sweet Victor, Mark Reis, and Joe’s wife, sweet Marjorie.
She makes my whole day when I see her out there in the crowd dancing and boogyin’ her ass off during rehearsals…such a great vibe, kinda like Stills….not
I have also come to really look forward to the inevitable moments when our friend Stephen (undoubtedly the most thoughtful joyous well adjusted person in rock and roll history) comes out to the gigs where I am hired by the person in charge to play guitar, and then kicks me off the stage before I have even played a note…always a highlight for me.
If he would just be nice to me for 5 seconds I could help him fix whatever is going on with those re-everythinged old tweeds that look like they got puked on by Hendrix Himself that he struggles with…hahaaa
but as a wise man once said to me many years ago (in a slow southern drawl) “Tommy, you just can’t help some people”

Uncle Larry gives us a primer on a new genre of guitar playing called “thoughtful blues”….
