Homeskoolin’ Extra Credit, “Two Chord Symphony”

00:00 - Insane guitar playing
Notes
Hello friends….just a little clip of Larry testing the load bearing capacity of this wonderful old 58 es-225 that he is considering purchasing…..
On that note, if anyone out there in the Greater Nashville area (or somewhere reasonably close) had any interest in owning Larry’s embarrassingly clean and painfully original 65 Vibrolux Reverb (with the coveted factory Jensen 10’s praise Him) he would most assuredly use that money (3500) to buy this old plunk (slightly more than 3500)…..
Contained within tonites programming is a not so brief illustration of some harmonic and rhythmic possibilities a person could consider while going back and forth between two boring old chords over and over.
P-90’s for life….fuck off Gilbert
Thanks for watching the show guys

Homeskoolin’ Bonus Footage…”Straight In”

00:00 - Rocking out
Notes
I have only found a few things in this life that are more exciting than the feeling of plugging a great guitar straight into a raunchy little amp that’s turned up loud enough to potentially bother the neighbors…it is simply electrifying.
Just got home from a fun session and felt like playing a little more tonite. Wish you could hear what this little combo sounded like in the room…good stuff.
This is a recently acquired 58 les paul junior into my trusty old gretsch 6161 combo amp I’ve had forever.

Homeskoolin’, Tom Bukovac “I Always Pictured You Wearing Pants Pt. 6”

00:00 - Majestic, out of this world playing
Notes
Stream of nonsenciousness late night ramblings from a guy who still believes in Santa.
Just seeing what kind of scenic routes this old Junior likes to go on.
Thank you guys for all the encouragement….try these crazy voicings whenever you take a break from watching mimi…kinda tough grabs but worth it.

Homeskoolin’ Gear Talk, “The Stud Finder”

00:00 - Altered reproduction bridge for intonation
Notes
The video title may be a bit misleading…hopefully you’re not too disappointed to find out this video is actually about a guitar bridge……but not just any bridge….the MUSIC CITY STUD FINDER!!!
https://musiccitybridge.com
A replacement bridge designed by Joe Glaser, Nick Drushel, and yours truly that corrects ALL of the many inherent problems that plagued the 1954-1960 Gibson Les Paul Junior models.
Built and designed after decades of total frustration unsuccessfully trying every other replacement bridge on the market…
Homeskoolers…i implore you, if you ever trusted Uncle Larry on ONE THING in this life, let it be this.
Way more than any teaching i have ever done, or any music that i ever made, i feel like THIS invention is my greatest contribution to mankind…and i sleep a little better at night knowing that because of this bridge, i can actually say i left the world in better condition than i originally found it in….haaaaahaaaaa

I will lay out the Plexi Soul “down under” shipping situation soon….special thanks to Jedd’s dad.
Thanks for watching the show and sorry for the gratuitous “over posting” and shameless flogging of all things Homeskoolin’….no sessions for a while…a man gets “bored” sometimes….so then that man sells a few of his tools of war…so that he can then purchase some other tools of war.

Homeskoolin’ Sunday Night Freak Out

00:00 - Amazing playing
Notes
A little joyous late night woodshedding after winning a grand on Dallas tonite haha….as usual, i just try to get lost and explore some new territory. Once in a while when i get lucky while practicing i feel like i stumble onto some shit i’ve never done before. Maybe it’s all an illusion.
Thanks for supporting the channel friends….i can’t tell you how much the kind words mean to me. I SINCERELY appreciate the paypal donations and the positive reviews of Trip The Witch and Plexi Soul records.
Hope you guys have a great week

Homeskoolin’ Happy Holidays From Your Uncle Larry

00:00 - Beautiful "Silent Night" rendition
Notes
A very sincere holiday wish to all my dear Homeskoolers….it’s been damn near two years now that you guys have been putting up with old Uncle Larry…he truly appreciates it
I cannot wait to open presents with the precious little ones tomorrow.
One day ill show you guys the brand new black 1979 les paul deluxe i got for Christmas in 1980 when i was 12 years old. My whole family chipped in to come up with the 500 bucks it took to purchase it.
I actually still have it to this day, which is a small miracle considering how “frequently” your old Uncle Larry “liquidates” his gear.
Merry Christmas to all!

Hello class…in today's presentation…a walk through the chords of the Trip The Witch song “Dressed To Kill Myself”.
Also , a couple videos of my dear old friend Guthrie Trapp absolutely destroying my ‘38 OOO-18 and my ‘37 AJ.
Also, the lovely ‘65 Gibson 335 in the video is available in this episode of Uncle Larry’s garage sale. This guitar is ABSOLUTELY ready to be someone’s main squeeze….beautiful refret and it plays like absolute butter, dead in tune. Nice fuckin guitar in the original case. Has some Bigsby holes and original tuners reinstalled after some others were on it…best part about this guitar is it has the “tweener” nut width…it’s not the classic wide pre ‘65 1 11/16” nut width, but it’s not that super skinny late 60’s feel either…its a “tweener”

Homeskoolin’ Monday Night Bonus…”Buzz Saw Blues”

00:00 - Badass Blues loop jam
Notes
One of my favorite guitar tones of all time is the super bright razzy blown speaker distortion effect. Such as the direct sounding buzz saw tone on "Black Dog" by Jimmy Page.
Getting pretty close here with an old Roger Mayer Voodoo-1 through an old AC30. Another old pedal that gives up that tone in spades is the old Multivox Big Jam Distortion…although sadly i dont own one. Hope you guys enjoy!

Homeskoolin’ Session Update Part 1 “Acoustic Fever”

00:00 - Acoustic track playing
Notes
Monday August 9th 2021…Soultrain Studios in Berry Hill.
Working on a project with an extremely talented Aussie fella named Wes Dean.
Wes sang, played some great acoustic and blew me away with some absolutely wicked Bob Dylan/Neil Young style harmonica playing….(which is one thing we are SORELY lacking here in the Nashville session scene in my opinion).
Corky Courtelyou producing and engineering.
Kyle Blunt Pro Tools operator.
I played electric and a bit of acoustic as you see here.
The legendary Freddie Eltringham on drums.
Adam Beard on an olive drab P bass.
Charlie Lowell on keys.
I know it sucks when you can’t hear the context of the track that I am playing along with, but unfortunately thats all I can give you guys without pissing off the artist I am working for.
The guitar I'm playing is a 1937 Gibson Advanced Jumbo that I just recently purchased from Gruhn Guitars. I had to sell about five guitars to even remotely afford it but thats just fine with me....the thing is truly not of this earth.

Hello class, just a brief exploratory look at baritone guitars….keep in mind, EVERY guitar sounds cool when you tune it down low enough. Props to John Scott from Bluesman Vintage guitars in Nashville. You may want to contact him if you like lightweight guitars…the Strat he had with him yesterday was literally the lightest Strat i have ever felt in my entire life…5 pounds tops.

You’re not gonna see a bunch of old Chevelles and the ordinary old car stuff, this place is jam packed with rare and exotic vehicles from all over the world….its a nice quiet peaceful calming afternoon, kind of like a NAMM show right?
You might even see Uncle Larry and his two sweet boys there.
