“How To Butcher A Vintage Guitar”
Chapters00:00 - Gibson ES-345 / Cut out back now attached with magnets
09:03 - Footage of carnage
Notes
Friends…this is not A.I……this is real
Somebody in this world actually thought it was a good idea to do this to a poor old 1960 Gibson ES-345, that had made it through the first 60 years of its life relatively unscathed.
Starring my dear old friend Dan Strain from Danocaster guitars, along with the rest of the boys from Glaser Instrument Repair

Homeskoolin’ Bonus “The Rarest Gibson Amp”
Chapters00:00 - Hello lovers of vintage amps
00:27 - '60 Gibson GA-83S (rare amp)
02:32 - Playing: Leslie type effect
04:04 - Playing: Pretty good tough guy stuff
Notes
In the late 50’s and early 60’s Gibson REALLY THOUGHT that their stereo guitars and amps idea was going to revolutionize the world.
The Gretsch company also made a strong push towards stereo in the late 50’s.
They ran it hard for about 4 years before they realized that it was never gonna fly and nobody gave a fuck.
This was the flagship amp of the Gibson stereo amplifier line up …the rare and coveted GA-83S…less than 300 were built during its full run of production, which was 1959-61.
I searched for one of these rare beasts for over 20 years before I found one

in my defense, i have been so infatuated with this head that i have paid very little attention to these cabinets

Notes
Uncle Larry visits with the boys from Music City Bridge to discuss a very cool 1965 Stratocaster that found it’s way to it’s current owner through a very real and very organic network of people working together simply trying to help each other out.
After 30 plus years of living in Nashville, I can tell you that there is a very strong sense of community here, and we are all very thankful for that.
This guitar was originally consigned at Music City Vintage for a LOT of money due to the rarity of the ocean turquoise custom color.
I saw it there and immediately fell in love with it, and decided to feature it in one of my videos thinking that someone out there with way more money than I have might be interested in it.
My dear friend Matt Swanson saw that video and said that he would buy the guitar, but ONLY if the store was cool with having the guitar inspected by the guys at Vintage Verified to MAKE SURE that the finish is original.
You may remember me telling you about Vintage Verified, they use spectrometry and other amazing technology to analyze finishes, plastic and metal. They can tell if a guitar is straight or not, which is very important when you are spending THAT kind of dough.
Vintage Verified inspected the guitar, confirmed that it is indeed authentic. It had already been refretted once, but it was not a great fret job, so they suggested that the guitar be refretted again properly.
Matt agreed, so it was sent over to Glaser Instrument Repair so that Nick Drushel could give it to the bad ass fret job that the guitar deserves.
This whole thing is a great example of how the guitar community in this town works…there are so many great people and great resources here.
It’s truly amazing and I am THRILLED to be a small part of this great big beautiful karmic wheel .
Hope you enjoy the video friends

Homeskoolin’ Bonus , “The Third Floor”
Chapters00:00 - Gibson ES-335
02:44 - Gibson Banner Head
06:35 - Back to the ES-335
Notes
One of my favorite places on this planet is the legendary third floor of Gruhn Guitars in Nashville TN…the repair department.
I filmed this little video Monday before I left for Muscle Shoals, and I thought you guts might dig it .
There’s about 8 repair guys up there that work full time keeping the Gruhn inventory moving along.
This team of guys are truly world class titans of guitar repair…Greg Voros, Tony Nagy, Phil Jones, Tom Stadler, Joel, Peter, David, Julio Pinho and Nathan Golliher and a couple others I don’t know as well….but you have seen most of these guys in my previous videos.
The collective brain trust, the repair gear and the general level of high end instruments you will see up there on that magical third floor is nothing short of amazing.
Much like making it to the NFL, the guys that work up there all know how good you gotta be to even get that job in the first place …and you can tell they all respect the job and each other’s skills
….
Interesting side note, young Nathan Golliher can also imitate all of the other repair guys perfectly ..and he also does George, and me …he’s like the Rich Little of the bunch.
Im this video , Julio Pinho shows us the amazing work he has been doing on my 59 factory mono es-355…and Nathan Golliher shows us the “trifecta” he just completed on my 44 banner head j-45
I never fail to appreciate the resources we have in this amazing city of Nashville…still in my opinion the best city in America …and I’ve been here for 34 years.
Where else on earth are THIS many talented musical minds all collected together?
