Homeskoolin’ Bonus , “The Third Floor”

Chapters
00:00 - Gibson ES-335
02:44 - Gibson Banner Head
06:35 - Back to the ES-335

Notes
One of my favorite places on this planet is the legendary third floor of Gruhn Guitars in Nashville TN…the repair department.

I filmed this little video Monday before I left for Muscle Shoals, and I thought you guts might dig it .

There’s about 8 repair guys up there that work full time keeping the Gruhn inventory moving along.

This team of guys are truly world class titans of guitar repair…Greg Voros, Tony Nagy, Phil Jones, Tom Stadler, Joel, Peter, David, Julio Pinho and Nathan Golliher and a couple others I don’t know as well….but you have seen most of these guys in my previous videos.

The collective brain trust, the repair gear and the general level of high end instruments you will see up there on that magical third floor is nothing short of amazing.

Much like making it to the NFL, the guys that work up there all know how good you gotta be to even get that job in the first place …and you can tell they all respect the job and each other’s skills
….
Interesting side note, young Nathan Golliher can also imitate all of the other repair guys perfectly ..and he also does George, and me …he’s like the Rich Little of the bunch.

Im this video , Julio Pinho shows us the amazing work he has been doing on my 59 factory mono es-355…and Nathan Golliher shows us the “trifecta” he just completed on my 44 banner head j-45

I never fail to appreciate the resources we have in this amazing city of Nashville…still in my opinion the best city in America …and I’ve been here for 34 years.

Where else on earth are THIS many talented musical minds all collected together?

Uncle Larry restrings his dear beloved son Marshall’s lovely old chopper 61 SG/LP and reflects upon decades of wins and losses for the greatest guitar making company in the history of life on this planet.

For your amusement, here's an actual comment i got on this channel a couple days ago from a YouTuber called "620photo" after i posted a free video of me playing my 36 ES-150 with that glorious woody sounding Chuck Christian pickup.

"I used to get excited for these long videos. Where I knew he was gonna play for five or six minutes and talk for 20. Personally, I don't come here to hear him play, even though he is amazing. I come here for his great words of wisdom and great stories. I got excited to see a 25 minute video just to find out it's 15 minutes of playing jazz crap"

welcome to my world friends....i mean, seriously...how do you even respond to something in this "IQ range"?

well... anyway...it is true that 99% of the people that watch this channel are super cool...this fella is clearly a "one percenter"...

so, if you are indeed learning/growing/or just plain being entertained by all the bizarre things that take place on this channel, you might consider placing a little gratuity in the corporate tip jar....all proceeds go directly to Tom Bukovac...(not Uncle Larry)

Notes
Uncle Larry plays some modern jazz REAL early on a Friday morning....while most of his peers are still sound asleep, he gallantly navigates through some severely altered rhythm changes, accompanied by his trusty old '36 ES-150 (which is currently sporting a set of Thomastik flats that Uncle Larry happens to be a big fan of).

in fact, i'll tell ya this friends....if you like flat wounds, and you have yet to try a set of Thomastik strings, you are TOTALLY missing out...

they are, in a word, EXQUISITE

and COMPLETELY unrelated, this video i linked here below here is absolutely AMAZING to me on so many levels...

let us never forget friends....there are people on this earth, walking among us, that know pain that the rest of us literally could not even imagine.

i have nothing but total reverence and respect for this dude...just trying to do his job and everything goes totally wrong...but he powered through it
