Notes
Hello friends…a small army of guitar lovers gathered tonite at Uncle Larry’s Sanctuary to drink a couple beers and reminisce about the good old days.

This episode features young Eddie Blacksmith (aka Eddie Haddad)….young Ben Brandt (aka the boy with the good “scrong”) …and Ford Thurston (aka Fordy Ounce) …as well as a fairly large cache of golden era humbuckers (and even a couple modern pickups) framed inside some delightful dry aged lightweight Honduran hog for your viewing and listening pleasure

Our dear Fordy had a pretty solid buzz on, so he elected not play and only listen to the evening’s proceedings…

Granted, it may be a little challenging at times to make out what he’s saying, but I think you’ll find his tonal observations to be pretty spot on, despite his rather “relaxed” state of consciousness.

Hope you enjoy yet another crazy day in the life of your old buddy from northeast Ohio.

Uncle Larry reflects on a VERY demanding of week of solo parenting two of the coolest little boys in the Deep South.

Been having a blast listening to mixes and making mix revisions of the new Buk/Jedd/Guthrie acoustic album that is about to be unleashed upon the world as soon as we get it mastered and get an album cover done .

I think you guys are gonna like this one …it’s VERY unique.
I can’t quite say I’ve ever heard another record quite like it to be honest…it has elements of sooo many different influences…bluegrass, space honky, western, Spanish, rockabilly, Disney, doom rock, and many others .

It’s a truly high fidelity sonic capture by engineer Brandon Bell…a real auditory feast for your earholes

We don’t have a name for it yet…do you?

Also, check out the new CLIFFS releases on all the streaming platforms ...i’m very proud of those boys

If you want to see more of the work of Bruce Nelson, who made the fine instrument I am playing in today’s video lookie here:

Homeskoolin’ Bonus “So Ya’ Wanna Be A Session Man?”

Chapters
00:00 - Session piano player
05:39 - Back with the band

Notes
Dear Homeskoolers, meet Jason Webb, cherished member of the Nashville session community, and one of the most amazing keyboard players i have seen in my entire life.

Just for a little mind blowing context, in this section of the song we were working on, the chart just said “5 bars of 5 chord”….

some folks would see and naturally, they would just hold a 5 chord for 5 bars…and then certain OTHER folks can envision/create/perform something like this… on the fly…and actually get it on tape

I would say this is a pretty good example of the old phrase “there’s probably something more you could potentially be doing…”

…and the end of this video shows Dann Huff, Tommy Sims and Chris McHugh in the heat of battle

I feel honored and lucky to be able to work with musicians of this caliber almost every day
