Chapters
00:00 - Remembering a great musician / Deep cleaning process
08:22 - "Don't get caught up in the notes...and lose the feel"

Notes
This video is in memory of an old friend of mine …a a piano player from Cincinnati named Jimmy Nichols …or “Knuckles”, as the legendary record producer Mark Bright used to call him

I haven’t seen Jimmy in a few years, but we worked together A LOT in the late 2000’s ….i remember back around 2007, i walked by him one time in Starstruck Studio on a session while he was talking to someone on the phone, and I heard him blurt out “yeah man , it’s 120k for 8 weeks”

When he hung up the phone with whoever he was talking to, I said “yo dude, WHAT is 120k for 8 weeks??”

He said “the Faith Hill tour man…I already asked you about it a while ago and you said no”

Needless to say , at that moment I reconsidered hahaaa

He was lovable oaf…he will be missed

Friends, I implore you as I also tell myself …ENJOY EVERY FUCKING SANDWICH because we all know how fleeting this life is…which leads me to the beginning of today’s little clip

every man on this earth needs a little place of respite. …even if it’s just an average run of the mill stereo system, maybe with some cool old records to listen to , maybe some nice coffee to drink and a cool old chess board to teach his sons how to play the greatest game ever invented

And yes friends, all those records are alphabetically organized.

05:45 - Loop

Notes
Re-posted due to technical difficulties

My sweet 13 year old boy Marshall gives us some insights into the mind of a young musician/e-biker

In an attempt to take advantage of the down time from my recent illness, we have been doing some INTENSE deep cleaning around the ol’ crib here

We took a whole truck load of stuff to the goodwill, bought a half dozen big totes and literally brought a zillion pounds of stuff we don’t use anymore out of the house

Friends, I know you can relate, is there a better feeling in this world than “the great purge”?

Special thank you’s to dear Glenn Gunn and dear Richard Garrett for their recent contributions to the channel

The Ken Burns Vietnam Doc (amazing but heavily slanted towards “it was all a huge mistake “)

The Vietnam War In Color (the best true explanation of everything that actually led up to our involvement in the war going back to 20’s Indo-China I have ever seen)

The Battle Of Chosin Reservoir (an UNBELIEVABLE doc about the toughest Americans that have ever lived)

The Family I Had (an amazing doc about some crazy ass shit that happened in Texas)

Notes
Here’s a broken link that will start working tmrw
https://jeddhughes1.bandcamp.com/albu...

Please don’t email me and tell me the link isn’t working

My personal favorite song on the record is the last track called “tumbleweed city”

Jordan Perlson guested on the album with the percussion and the full drum kit you hear on a couple songs

Guthrie played guitar, all the mandolin stuff and a lot of the guitar solos

Jedd and I split acoustics

I played all the keys and the bass

We stayed true to our acoustic theme on the album …even the bass you hear was provided by my trusty old harmony h-22 hollow body bass

The keyboards used were a real Rhodes suitcase 73, lots of mellotron and even some Farfisa

MANY different acoustic guitars were used..my old mid 70s guild flamey blonde jumbo 12 made SEVERAL appearances, mostly being wrangled by poor Jedd

When you have an engineer as great as Brandon Bell, the sky is the limit sonically.

It’s almost like cheating working with him…like magic
